Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the sudden death of some brain cells due to lack of oxygen, when the blood flow to the brain is impaired by blockage or rupture of an artery to the brain. A CVA is also referred to as a stroke.
Rehabilitation: When a patient is no longer acutely ill after a stroke, the aim turns to maximizing the patient’s functional abilities. This can be done in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital or in a special area of a general hospital and in a nursing facility. The rehabilitation process can involve speech therapy to relearn talking and swallowing, occupational therapy for regaining dexterity of the arms and hands, physical therapy for improving strength and walking, etc. The goal is for the patient to resume as many of their pre-stroke activities as possible.
A program of exercise/physiotherapy can be an important part of healthy living with CVA. People living with CVA have found that therapy can improve quality of life issues that they might be experiencing, including:
- Walking capabilities and endurance
- Balance and walking issues
- Motor cognitive functions
Many people choose to continue their exercises at home with a trainer, such as an APT Trainer.
- Start with five minutes of low-intensity cycling.
- Cycle for 20-60 minutes or multiple 10 minutes sessions, at light-moderate intensity (11-14 on the Borg RPE**).
- Finish with five minutes of low-intensity cycling.
*Please consult your physician or physical therapist prior to training.
The Active Passive Trainer (APT) is a family of unique exercise rehabilitation trainers for upper or lower limbs. The APT offers benefits that rehabilitation professionals expect from a medical device that is quality engineered and FDA and CE registered. The APT is commonly used in physiotherapy clinics in the USA and around the world and over the years multiple clinical studies have confirmed the benefits of the trainer.
The wide range of exercise options makes the APT suitable for use by the healthy and independent senior citizen for the maintenance of fitness and physical well-being, and also for the physically impaired of all ages, as part of a planned rehabilitation program and as a supplement to physiotherapy.
The Active Passive Trainer has been in use in physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers for over 25 years and is now available for home use so that you can continue your rehabilitation, without having to leave your home.
For less than the price of a coffee a day, you can own a personal medical trainer to be used in the comfort and safety of your own home, away from the crowds, and continue your rehabilitation at your own pace.
Download our brochure today and show it to your healthcare provider or physiotherapist. It has information that they will find useful in helping devise a rehabilitation or exercise program for you.
Alongside patients’ and their family’s reactions to the efficacy of the device, clinical studies have been conducted to prove that Cerebrovascular Accident patients using movement therapy can improve their lives. The APT Activity has been clinically proven as improving the condition of CVA patients. See some of the studies below, or refer to the Clinical Research page.

Thank you Tzora and especially Mike for spending two hours on the phone with me explaining to me everything I needed to know about the APT as well as figuring out a comprehensive payment plan for myself.
I suffered left side paralysis and recovery has not been easy. That’s why I am so grateful to companies like Tzora that go above and beyond to assist and support the customers!
I am a truck driver which means I am not home as much as I would like. Tzora has been so helpful to my wife, who suffered a stroke and is not very good with technology. Every time she needs assistance, they pull through and help her. Thank you Tzora!
I just want to thank the Tzora team for having been so understanding after my stroke. I called them and explained the situation and they came to set up the APT in my own home and explained to me how to use it.
After my stroke my biggest challenge was balance. I was unable to stand without wobbling and always insecure on my feet. The APT did a great job in strengthening my legs and has slowly been giving me a sense of stability again.
I am a very negative person for some reason and after I had my stroke I did not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Having the APT made my recovery a lot easier than I expected and it really help to re incorporate critical movements to my life
My wife completely stopped walking after her stroke. I did not know if it was a physical or mental problem and neither did the doctors. I bought the APT from Tzora as a last resort and attached her feet and let the passive training work the increased blood flow to her legs really helped her. Now she is starting to walk with a cane and hopefully soon she will be able to walk fully by herself. For that I am forever grateful.
I used to be a runner before my stroke. Yes, I had heard the saying once a runner always a runner, but I would have never thought that I would ever run again. My endurance was minimal until I started training with the APT from Tzora. Yesterday, I went on a run for the first time since my accident.
My husband’s walking really took a toll from his stroke. He held his head high and used the APT-1 from Tzora every day to improve his walking by using the Active and Passive training modes. Every day he walks better and further, Thank you Tzora
My motor cognitive functions were seriously harmed by my stroke. The APT from Tzora gave me a personalized therapy plan to target that issue and it really does. I feel better every day.
I did not believe in angels until I found the APT-1. My stroke had changed my life forever and the APT came into my life to try to change it back.
When my wife suffered her stroke, I suffered it more than she did. I thought this was it but then I saw her every day on the APT-1 giving her all to get better and that gave me hope once again. Thank you Tzora for the hope.
The fact that I can be writing this review is thanks to Tzora and the APT-1. It has been helping me recover to the point that I sometimes forget that I suffered a stroke a couple months ago.
I remember my mom’s stroke as it was yesterday, we were all sitting at the dinner table and out of nowhere her face froze. At first we thought she was joking, sadly she wasn’t. The APT-1 has been helping her recover from her home. Thank you Tzora for being here during these tough times.
After I suffered a left sided stroke everything changed, from the way I held my food to the way I talked. The APT-1 has been helping recover and change everything as close to normal as it once was. I am grateful to Tzora for their support.
Thank you Tzora for the amazing product, it has positively helped me with making my mom continue with her physical therapy everyday without having to take her out of her home. Truly an amazing product. We are so pleased with our purchase.
My mom’s progress has been so clear ever since she started using the APT on a regular basis. Thank you so much Tzora!
I suffer from a cerebrovascular accident and ordered an APT-1. I am so pleased! Thank you for the amazing customer service and the quick shipping.
My doctor put me on an APT Trainer a few days after my stoke. He advised me to use the passive mode with my legs and slowly increase the rotation speed by assisting the movement with my own leg muscles. I was able to get out of bed very quickly.
We already know that stroke survivors are benefitting considerably from the use of this excellent machine.
Since I have been using the APT on a daily basis for the last three months, I have gained strength and have more core balance. The APT has become part of my exercise routine and an important tool in my aim to prevent spasticity and to gain more mobility.
My husband has been using the APT for six years now, having had a stroke which left him left side paralyzed. He honestly enjoys using the device every day.
The APT has helped me to improve my walking capabilities. I have been using the device twice a day for three years. My advice to everyone: never give up and always continue training.
So much has changed since my stroke. We used to hike and cycle a lot and suddenly none of that was possible. With the help of using the APT, I am gradually returning to walking for longer stretches each week.
